United Way of Norwalk & Wilton to Announce
2006-07 Caring Community Campaign Goal and Plans
The United Way of Norwalk & Wilton’s Caring Community Campaign 2006-2007 will officially begin on Wednesday, September 13 with a special Campaign Cabinet planning breakfast, to be held at 7:45 – 9:15 am, Silvermine Tavern, 194 Perry Avenue, Norwalk. The goal for this year’s campaign will be announced at the breakfast.
According to Nicki Brown, President and CEO of The Wilton Bank, who will serve for a second time as campaign chair, the meeting will launch an intensive 15-week fundraising effort in Wilton and Norwalk among residents, employees, small businesses and corporations. The breakfast will highlight the programs and community initiatives supported by the United Way. This year’s Division Chairs will also talk about their key campaign strategies.
Nicki is particularly delighted to welcome The Principal Financial Group to the community and the campaign. The Principal Financial Group received United Way of America’s 2006 Spirit of America Award, the highest honor an organization can receive for its dedication and commitment to local communities. The employees of Principal are genuinely committed to giving back to the community.
According to David R. Kennedy, President and CEO of United Way of Norwalk & Wilton, this year’s campaign will build on the momentum of last year. “I am very excited that Terra Johnson recently joined our staff as Assistant Campaign Director. Terra will focus on reaching out to local employers to tell them about the needs in the community and the work United Way does with our community partners to address those needs and change community conditions. Our goal is add more business partners to our campaign and to the work of improving lives in our communities.”
Cathy DeCesare, Director of Campaign added. “Our volunteers are charged with enthusiasm and that enthusiasm comes from knowing that we have very real, specific projects identified and very real, specific results already impacting our communities. Asking for dollars to support United Way projects is asking for dollars to invest in community projects that have achievable goals and the opportunity for lasting change in the lives of our friends, family and neighbors.”
